Google Forms Link Shortener

Turn a long docs.google.com/forms link into a short link that is easy to share, print and say out loud. See how many people opened your form, from which country and on which device.

Why shorten a Google Forms link with URLyte

Know who opened the form

Google Forms counts responses, not visits. URLyte counts every click on your link, so you can see how many people opened the form and did not finish it.

A QR code for every form

Download a QR code for posters, classroom slides, event badges or receipts. People scan it and land on the form.

A name people remember

With a free account, use a branded link like urlyte.com/yourschool/survey instead of a random code.

Change the form later

Point a branded link to a new form (for example next term's survey) without reprinting the QR code or resending the link.

What people use it for

Event sign-upsurlyte.com/club/register

Put one short link on the flyer and the social post, then compare which one brought more sign-ups.

Customer feedbackurlyte.com/cafe/feedback

Print the QR code on receipts or tables and see how many customers open the survey.

Class quizzesurlyte.com/math7/quiz

Students type a short, readable link instead of a long code from the board.

Job applicationsurlyte.com/acme/apply

Share one application link on LinkedIn, WhatsApp and your website, and see which channel works.

How to shorten a Google Forms link

  1. Copy the share link, not the edit link

In Google Forms, click Send, then the link icon, and click Copy. Do not copy the address bar while you edit the form: that link (ending in /edit) asks people for edit access.

  2. Paste it into URLyte

Paste the link into the box at the top of this page. You get a short link at once, with no account needed.

  3. Add a QR code and a name

Download the QR code. Create a free account to use a branded name like urlyte.com/yourbrand/survey and to change where the link points later.

  4. Share it and watch the clicks

Share the link anywhere. URLyte shows clicks by day, country, device and source.

What a Google Forms link looks like

A shared Google Form link is long because it carries a unique form ID.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf…xYz/viewform?usp=sf_link

/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf…
The form's published ID. This is the only part that identifies your form.
/viewform
Opens the form for people to fill in. A link ending in /edit is for editors only.
?usp=sf_link
A Google tracking hint that says the link was copied from the Send dialog. It is safe to keep.

Google can also give you a forms.gle link (Send, link icon, then "Shorten URL"). That link is short, but it has no click tracking and no custom name.

forms.gle vs URLyte

Featureforms.gle (Google)URLyte
Short linkYesYes
Click count and visits by dayNo (responses only)Yes
Countries, cities, devices, sourcesNoYes
Custom name in the linkNoYes (branded links, free account)
Change the destination laterNoYes (branded links)
QR codeNoYes, free

If you only need a short link and do not care about visits, forms.gle is enough. Use URLyte when you want to know how many people opened the form, or you want a name and a QR code.

Common problems with Google Forms links

People see "You need permission"

You shared the /edit link. Copy the link from the Send dialog instead (it ends in /viewform).

The form asks people to sign in

In Settings, the form may be limited to users in your organization, or it collects verified email addresses. Change that setting if the form is public.

The form says it no longer accepts responses

The form is closed. Open the Responses tab and turn "Accepting responses" back on. The short link keeps working.

URLyte users have shortened 127 Google Forms links so far (October 2026).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it free to shorten a Google Forms link?

Yes. Paste the link at the top of this page to get a short link for free. A free account adds branded links, QR codes and 90 days of click history.

Can I see how many people opened my Google Form?

Google Forms shows only how many people submitted it. A URLyte short link counts every click, so you can compare opens with responses.

Does the short link still work if I edit the form?

Yes. Editing questions does not change the form's link, so your short link keeps working.

Can I point my link to a different form later?

Yes, with a branded link from a free account. Edit the destination in your dashboard, and the same link and QR code open the new form.

What is the difference between forms.gle and a URLyte link?

Both are short. forms.gle has no click tracking, no custom name and no QR code. URLyte adds all three.
